Scarab is new local specialty which arrives with Genshin Impact 3.1 update. With this new update, we get whole new desert area in Sumeru with it’s new 2 local specialty: Redcrest and Scarab.
Scarab have appearance like regular dung beetle with golden color, appear as pushing some rock or dung. If there’s anything difficult to find this beetle, it’s because it’s color blend well with desert environment.
This local specialty for now used as ascension material for Cyno, and most likely more in the future.
NPC With Scarab as Reward?
There’s one NPC in Aaru Village that will reward traveler with 4 Scarabs just by talking to him and choosing right branch of dialogue, his name is Nawaz. You can find him in a ruin near Aaru Village.
FTalk to him with following dialogue branch:
Scarabs > Could you tell me more about King Deshret? > Make sure to be friendly to others
Take a note that Nawaz will only appear during the day, so set your clock to daytime.
Scarab Farming Locations in Smeru Great Red Desert
Actually, farming scarab can be categorized into 2 areas: surface and underground. For surface, we will explore it all. But for underground, it’s require certain world quest to access and since I haven’t do the world quest for now I will skip underground part.
Area Around Aaru Village
All scarabs located pretty close to teleport waypoint and statue of the seven so there’s no specific route for this area.
South of Aaru Village
Continuation from previous location, follow red arrow. For left corner scarab, you also can start from nearby teleport waypoint in the next area.
Around Sobek Oasis and Dune of Elusion
If you can’t seem to find Scarab in certain location, try looking in a bush.
Land of Upper Setekh
Located southernmost of Great Red Desert, let’s start from number 1 location. Grab first scarab from behind statue of the seven then glide down to Valley of Dahri to get another 2 scarabs.
Grab it fast and teleport so second location or you will be targeted by Ruin Golem laser.
For location number 2, start by using four leaf sigil to reach top of huge rock then continue to scarab located east of Fatui camp, then head west to the other 2.
Dune of Magma Area
Scarab number 1, 2, and 3 can be found near ruin (number 2 on top of said ruin). Make your way north with four leaf sigil and grab Scarab behind broken wall, continue north and check behind half buried Ruin Guard to get the last one. There’s 2 ruin guard in the area so you might want to check one by one, also be careful with The Drake.
